I am still a novice. I have learned quite a bit from friends, from forums and other gym members. I have only been hitting the weights hard for about 6 months now and the gains have been amazing. I have been very dedicated and I have been rewarded for it. My best experience yet was after setting a new deadlift personal record I had 2 people in the gym come up to me and start asking me fitness/nutrition/supplementation questions for about 1/2 hour. The one suggestion that I saw both of them take to heart was workout journals. Both of them were sort of wandering around the gym with no plan in site. I told them to come up with a goal/plan and keep a workout log. Next week both were in there with notebooks. It made me feel great that I looked/lifted like someone that knew their stuff.

In answering their questions I did not pretend to know everything and informed them that I am about as new to this as they are, but I had done my research and had been and still am dedicated to learning all I can about weight training.

I think I would have to say recently finishing my first half marathon. I am definitely not a runner and the past 15 + years of training under my belt has been dedicated to hypertrophy, strength and power. I decided to completely change it up and go for an endurance event. It was not an easy feat considering I'm a pretty solid 200 pounds and it sucked having to move that weight around for 13.1 miles. But I did it and it was a definite accomplishment. I'll finish in saying that "Life begins where the comfort zone ends."

Mine was watching an overweight client loose 65 lbs in 10 weeks!! It was in a very controlled environment with the help of doctors and registered dietitians and it was amazing to see the smile on his face when he dropped below 200 lbs again.

Jordanperks, great story. The learning should never end, the more you know the better you'll get and the more you can offer to those around you.
Stephen, my best experience(s) are similar to yours. One of my old coaches was a former strongman in the day and he had a nice piece of land where he had some cool stuff to workout with; sandbags, logs, tree trunks, stones, dragging sleds, tires, chains, farmers walk bars and some farm equipment. We used to go out to his place every couple of weeks and spend the day doing strongman events. Then we went out for steaks, always a good time.
There is something primal and motivating about being outside and using natural objects to workout with.
